Manufacturer:            Cephalon, Inc.

Description:            A wakefulness-promoting agent.

Indications and Use:  To improve wakefulness in patients with excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy.

Contraindications, Warnings and Precautions:  Not recommended in persons with a history of left ventricular hypertrophy or ischemic ECG changes, chest pain, arrhythmia, or other clinically significant manifestations of mitral valve prolapse in association with stimulant use.  A reduced dose should be used in patients with severe hepatic impairment, with or without cirrhosis.  The effectiveness of steroidal contraceptives may be reduced when used with Provigil.  Avoid alcohol while taking Provigil.  There are no adequate and well-controlled trials with modafinil in pregnant women and this drug should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk.

Adverse Reactions:  Possible common side effects may include headache, infection, nausea, nervousness, anxiety and insomnia.  Less common side effects may include diarrhea, dry mouth, rhinitis, and anorexia.

 Dosing Range:  Recommended dose is 200mg in the morning.
