Description:     Concerta is an extended release formulation of methylphenidate (Ritalin), which is a psycho stimulant.

Indications and Use:            For the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Contraindications, Warnings, and Precautions:  It should not be used by people who have significant anxiety, tension, or agitation.  Nor should it be used by patients with glaucoma (an eye disease) or those who have tics or Tourette’s syndrome.  Tell your doctor if you are also taking an MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor).  Concerta should never be crushed chewed or cut in half.

Adverse Reactions:  Possible side effects include appetite suppression, stomach ache, headache, insomnia, and upper respiratory infection.        

Dosing Range:   Available doses are: 18 mg, 27 mg, 36 mg, and 54 mg per day.
