Indications and Use: For the management of anxiety disorders or the short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety.

Description:  Anti-anxiety agent that differs from typical benzodiatypine anxielytics in that it does not exert anticonvulsant or muscle relaxant effects.

Contraindications, Warnings, and Precautions: Do not take BuSpar concomitantly with an MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor). Nursing mothers should avoid taking BuSpar if clinically possible. Avoid alcohol while taking this medication.

Adverse Reactions: The most common side effects include dizziness and drowsiness. Less common side effects include nervousness, insomnia, headache, dry mouth, nausea and diarrhea.

Overdosage: Signs and symptoms of overdosage include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and gastric distress. Emergency treatment is recommended immediately.

Dosing Range: Initial dosing recommendation is 15mg per day in three divided doses. The maximum daily dosage should not exceed 60mg per day.
