tetracyclic antidepressant Indications
and Use: For
the treatment of the symptoms of depression. Contraindications,
Warnings and Precautions:
Contraindicated
in persons with seizures. Do not
give concomitantly or within 14 days of monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
Use extreme caution in persons with a history of myocardial infarction
and in persons with a history or presence of cardiovascular disease.
Use cautiously in patients with a history of urinary retention, narrow
angle glaucoma, or increased intraocular pressure.
Discontinue the drug for as long as clinically feasible prior to any
scheduled surgery since the interaction between Ludiomil and general anesthetics
is not known. Do not use with
alcohol. Avoid concomitant use with
central nervous system depressants. The
risk of seizures may be increased when Ludiomil is taken with phenothiazines or
when the dosage of benzodiazepines is rapidly tapered.
Use caution in patients taking thyroid medication or hyperthyroid
patients because of the possibility of enhanced potential for cardiovascular
toxicity of Ludiomil. Adverse
Reactions:
Possible side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness nervousness,
anxiety, tachycardia, dry mouth, nausea, tremor, constipation, blurred vision,
weakness, fatigue and headache. Dosing
Range:
In adults, the initial dose may be 75 mg per day.
Doses above 150mg per day should be exceeded only in the most severely
depressed patients to a maximum of 225mg per day. |
